Checkered Past

Mixing all neutrals in today's post! Recently, I purchased these over-the-knee grey suede boots, and frankly, they are hard to match. While I thought neutral was a grey (it is, right?), these shoes do not go with everything. They do, however, match black & white!! Perfect excuse to wear white jeans in the winter, and also debut my checkered scarf that I picked up around Christmastime. I think this look is pretty chic, but above all, COMFY! Temps haven't been too bad at all here in the Bay Area, but it is important to layer nevertheless.

Obsessed With My Vest

Another afternoon eating street tacos, another mural! I swear, everytime I head to the Mission District in San Francisco, I find an amazing backdrop to shoot some snaps. I literally just start taking a few photos on my walk to the taqueria and my blog post is all done!!! So easy, and I love the art I encounter in the city.

As for the outfit, I picked up this top on clearance at Target!! The sweater is long (perfect to wear with leggings), and a good neutral color, so it matches all of the excursion vests you observe me wearing. Special shoutout to this beautiful purse my mom gifted me for Christmas! I love the rich berry color and shape. I have thus decided that maroon is a neutral, and am going to wear this bag with everything!!

Leather Weather

Hey all! I wanted to share a look with you that I wore celebrating Oakland Restaurant Week. For those of you who don't know, it is an annual celebration of the culinary diversity in the 510. From January 15-25, several Oakland restaurants offered prix-fixe lunch or dinner menus for just $20-40. Sometimes, SF cuisine is over hyped and over priced. Across the Bay, dine on some unique dishes from renowned chefs at a much smaller price point (and did I mention easier parking? And maybe no wait?)

Fortunately, a lot of my favorite Oaktown restaurants were participating!!! Flora, Home of Chicken & Waffles, Oliveto, & Lungomare are all spots I highly recommend. For this particular day, I decided on Bourbon and Beef on College. Let me tell you, that was the most tender steak I've EVER had, and the mac & cheese was to die for!!!

Plaid Attack

Hey there, lovelies! This is the last set of pics from my Tahoe weekend. As you can tell (as promised!), that plaid scarf isn't going anywhere! It was absolutely perfect for the car trip back. I unfolded the humongous scarf and used it as a blanket! Kept me warm on my trip back to the Bay! This time I paired it with a camel wrap sweater, black top, & black pants.

Blush & Grey

And the Tahoe pics continue... I hope you all like the change of scenery. This vacation gave me a little extra time and creativity to up the ante with the pictures! I still can't believe how warm it was in Tahoe. The day I left, the high approached 50 degrees. We definitely need more snow up there, and I can't wait to head back for more.

Winter Wonders

Hey all! I'm sharing my vacation pictures with you, and let me tell you, it was SO nice to get away... even for just a few days! I love Tahoe. It's just so scenic, peaceful, and relaxing. From skiing, to hot tubbing, to hitting the comfort food restaurants in the village, I find the mountains to be a magical place!

You all have to forgive these Uggs, haha! I didn't want to damage any of my boots, so I pulled out these Uggs from high school. They don't have great traction, and they certainly do nothing for my outfit. Yet, they did keep my feet warm, and boy was it slushy out on the roads!

My Work Make-Up Faves

Erica's Workweek Make-Up

So I have been getting a lot of requests lately on my make-up routine for work! Honestly, I change it up a bit and I think those of you familiar with my 9-5 (lol let's  be honest, my 4am to 10am), see me in a variety of different looks. I play around most with eye make-up and lipstick. My rule of thumb is to feature just one at any given time. So if I decide to do a dramatic smokey eye, then my lip color is muted. And vice-versa.

As for brands, I gravitate toward NARS, MAC, Smashbox, and Urban Decay. The NARS Audacious line of lipsticks are simply to die for, the colors are stunning. For NARS Audacious lipsticks, I own Michiyo (a shocking pink), Charlotte (a deep bordeaux), and Barbara (my go-to nude). For MAC, I use Girl About Town (hot pink), Half 'n Half (another nude I love), and Russian Red (my bold & classic lippie!).

All eye colors come from the NAKED 3 Palette by Urban Decay. I also use their lid primer. Half the time, I just use a liner and mascara on my eyes though.

I try to go foundation-free if I can get away with it (yes, I have gone to work bare-faced!). However, if I need to even out my skin, then I turn to Urban Decay's NAKED foundation, or MUFE HD Powder. I contour with Smashbox's 3-Step Palette.

So there you have it! Next up, I want to post close-up pictures of my make-up looks. Would you guys also like a tutorial from me? Let me know!

Shining Bright in the Snow

It's about time! #EKTakesAVacay!!! I went up to North Tahoe, Incline Village (a part of the area I've never been to before... I'm usually a South Lake girl) and it was cute! It's certainly a smaller and very low-key part of the area, and it was relaxing to say the least. I busted out the skis at Mt. Rose, and the cover was pretty good. The snow was a little icy, and it was difficult to check my speed, but all in all, I had a blast. It was actually a little warm in Tahoe when I went up, no new snow, and you could definitely walk around the village in a t-shirt in leggings. Praying for more snow, hopefully I can make another trip back up! Here's my look... more than enough layers for the day.

Red Leopard

Hello lovelies! As you can tell from previous posts, I am absolutely in LOVE with this coat. It is 100% ridiculous and everything I dreamed of as a little girl. As they say, we never stop playing dress up. A lot of you have been asking me to feature more work outfits, and believe it or not, I wore this to work!! It happened to be the coldest morning on the season, and I had already laid out the red peplum dress the night before. It was just TOO cold as I was heading out, threw this coat on, and it kinda worked! I was a bit embarrassed to be wearing a long leopard print coat, but hey, I needed the warmth. The look did receive a lot of compliments... so I guess everything worked out :)
