Obviously, dress codes differ from place to place. Some workplaces follow a strict dress code with muted colors and structured suits. Others have extended "casual Friday" to every day of the week. Sometimes, its not bad to pair a bright color with another bright. In this case, I used two of my favorite hues and a bold statement necklace. Generally when going this route, opt for some subtlety. I finished the look by subduing my legs with nude (for my skintone) heels.

It's still fairly warm here in the lovely Bay Area, despite Fall's arrival. Therefore, in my opinion, we should be able to keep warm weather colors around :) This is the first in the series of my "Wear to Work" posts.

So I think I really need to start letting go of Summer (It is officially Fall, after all). So here goes my attempt at a transition look. The colors are muted in that autumn way, however, stripes have me holding on to Summer :) Also, peep these beautiful/edgy/hot flats. They look VERY Valentino with the stud features, but they were a fraction of the price! Took awhile to break them in, but now they are good to go.
FYI I have started to shoot more "on location" looks of me around town, so that'll mix things up a bit. Also, the first of my professional/wear to work series is just around the corner! Get pumped.

Hey lovelies! This is a look I've been meaning to post for awhile now. I'm rely onboard when it comes to the denim-on-denim trend. I'm not talking about Britney & Justin at the 2001 American Music Awards. I'm channeling Jessica Alba's 2014 look. The key is to mix denim pieces that are not too similar. Keep accessories and even the denim simple. No embroidery. No rhinestones. I paired a clean chambray button-up with some cut-offs. When Fall really gets in full swing, I will throw in some dark wash skinny jeans to complete the look!

Wandering around Oakland, you have to be prepared for the HEAT. Some folks don't think it is even that hot there.. but trust me, at times the weather is unbearable. Believe it or not, flowy dresses may look hot, but really they keep things cool for me. They are airy and light, and a nice way to dress up for a typical day running around town. I usually save the maxi dresses for vacation. Today, however, it made an appearance!

Another floral post! Indeed this is a darker floral print and the longer sleeves make this outfit ideal for transitioning between Fall and Summer. I love this print so much, I bought a top with the same design! This is a great on the town dress. I usually bring this number out for a night out during the summer. Good thing it's comfortable! Only problem is, this is kind of an eccentric dress and it certainly makes an impression... so I don't reach for it too often because people instantly recognize it!

I put together the most basic everyday staples in my wardrobe for a very casual day running around Oakland's Fruitvale District. This is the neighborhood I grew up in, so I thought this throwback outfit and return to simpler clothing was appropriate. Oakland weather is a lot hotter than what I deal with in the city, but this was a mild day and I wasn't overdressed in the least!

A little neon never hurt anybody! I have really been feeling the neon lately.. From my neon pink summer dress, to my neon orange bikini, to this top... I just can't get enough. Highlighter yellow is a fun and bold color when you're really feeling confident. The tank pretty much speaks for itself, so I kept the rest of the outfit simple.. except for the necklace! Outfit details below.

Get excited guys! Some of these future posts will be "on location", and will feature me during day to day life and the clothes I wear. For a casual lunch date, I went with a chambray shirt and simple black skirt. I added a bit of flair with my leopard print Tory Burch flats. It didn't even look over the top as I continued my day and the usual errands.

Floral is a pattern often associated with Spring and Summer, but darker variations of the pattern and the right accessories can carry this trend well into Fall. I paired a black floral skirt, basic tank, and this red staple-item cardigan for an outfit perfect for slowly welcoming autumn. Since September is one of the hottest months in the Bay, I could easily forgo the sweater and keep it handy for when the clouds come back in the evening.

Okay, okay. It's very obvious that I like pinks and neons :) Before the Summer weather wraps up, you best be sure I will be wearing these cute shorts! They are J. Crew and so comfy... and if pink isn't your thing, they come in a large variety of colors! I muted the vibrancy of the shorts with a basic black tank. Result below!

Sea-side dressing is definitely different coast to coast. Here on the West coast, I think we adopt a surfer, laid-back look. Back East, however, it's all about the structured sailor look! I combined casual and comfy pieces with New England colors to create this look as we prepare for Fall and say so-long to summer!

I am loving grey skinnies! I'm sure you'll see me carry these well into Fall (and Winter for that matter). To run errands, I threw a pink/grey stripes top on and hit the streets! This outfit is perfect for lowkey errands such as heading to the post office or grocery store without looking like you're trying to hard. Pink & grey is probably one of my favorite color combinations, so this look receives heavy rotation for my weekday after-work errands. Details on the look below.

Hawaii is hands down one of my favorite vacation destinations. This is a Hawaiian-inspire frock I like to rock here on the mainland. The flowers on this dress look so exotic, and the crepe fabric is perfect for the humid weather we've been having around here!

Hey all! Well summer is almost a wrap, but luckily in the Bay Area, we carry the beautiful weather with us into most of early Fall. That means a few extra weeks of summer fashion :) I paired this silky purple tank with a pair of high waisted cut offs. This would be perfect for a music festival or weekend BBQ! I'm also pretty excited about this tassle necklace I picked up from Forever 21. It's a piece I'll wear well into Fall with flannels and vests!
